The Global Leaders Program (GLP) of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Hitotsubashi University is a certificate program for the Faculty's second year students and up.
Following its university-wide mandate, the Program aims "to foster new 'Captains of Industry' for this global society."[1] About 12 students are selected at the end of their first year, and in the program they will hone they abilities in:
- ◆ constructing theories based on real-world observation
- ◆ communicating in English and/or other languages fluently
- ◆ innovating and reforming Japanese and global systems
- ◆ leading and setting global rules through logical reasoning and negotiations ◆ proposing policy recommendations to solve global issues
- ◆ setting agendas
These six capacities are achieved in the GLP seminars, a Planning and Implementation course, other GLP credit courses, short-term study trips, and a long-term study abroad program with Hitotsubashi University's partner universities.
