Venue: Hitotsubashi University, West Campus, Main Building, Room 33

The number of Nepalese immigrants in Japan has been growing since the last decade. Why and how? We invited Dr. Dipesh Kharel, assistant professor at the University of Tokyo, to tackle these questions. Dr. Kharel is a Nepalese and has been researching Nepalese immigrants in Japan for many years. His lecture focuses on Indian restaurants in Japan and workers in these restaurants. The points to be discussed will be the background of the growth and social network working behind the community's expansion, and the actors involved, their roles, etc. A Q&A session will follow Dr. Kharel's lecture.
