Japanese Language Education for Foreign Children with Yasashii Nihongo

As part of the Planning and Implementation course, students organized an academic event on July 10, 2025, titled “Japanese Language Education for Foreign Children with Yasashii Nihongo.” The guest speaker was Professor Isao Iori from Hitotsubashi University, a leading expert in pedagogical grammar, text linguistics, and Japanese linguistics. His current research focuses on the use of pedagogical grammar in Japanese language education and the concept of Yasashii Nihongo.

In his lecture, Professor Iori explained how Yasashii Nihongo, which is a simplified version of the Japanese language, can serve as an important tool to help foreign children who are trying to adapt to life in Japan. He shared examples from both research and practice, emphasizing the social and educational importance of language accessibility in this diversed society.

Participants appreciated the thought-provoking presentation. The event also included a Q&A session where audience submitted questions via a form, allowing everyone to engage in the event.

We thank Professor Iori for his valuable insights and dedication.
