GLP Lecture Series – Parts 1 and 2

Last April 21, the three-part GLP Lecture Series opened with the lecture by Dr. Masayoshi Okabe (Saitama University) entitled, “When Norms Meet Structural Constraints: Economic Perspective on Reversed Gender Disparity in Education and Development in the Philippines.”

After Dr. Okabe’s presentation, GLP students asked their questions and engaged him in a conversation about economic development and his fieldwork in the Philippines

The second installment of this year’s GLP Lecture Series brought William Barriga, retired civil servant of the UN International Organization for Migration, to discuss the theme “International Cooperation in a fractured World.” With professional experience in the UN system of more than 30 years, Mr. Barriga presented conceptual and practical ways of considering international cooperation.
